Today
Lead Teacher & Founder

Ekaterina Kennedy

I was born and raised in Russia, where I studied Fine Arts and received a strong formal education. While this experience gave me a solid artistic foundation, it also came with a high degree of perfectionism and a fear of not performing well. Over time, I have learned to transform that pressure into a more open, joyful, and creative approach to art — something I now share with my students.

The idea for my courses began as simple art play dates for my son when he was five years old. I wanted him to learn the basic art skills, to appreciate and notice creativity in everyday life, and to freely express himself through colour and form. Interest grew quickly — I soon had more local children attending, and what began as a small community activity evolved into a growing art school with the passion and purpose.

Throughout my life, I have travelled extensively and worked with children in various countries — as an au-pair in Denmark, an English teacher, and as a private tutor in Spain and Russia. These experiences allowed me to observe and learn diverse educational methods, and they inspired me to develop my own approach to teaching art: structured yet freeing, educational yet playful.

My goal is to make art accessible and achievable for more children and adults. I strongly believe that art has a powerful impact on mental health, creativity, and self-esteem. I’ve personally experienced how art can guide us through difficult times and bring healing — and that belief lies at the heart of all my teaching.

Today, The Art Cabin is delivering art skills at the Firhouse Community Centre, The Park, Saggart Hub, and Lily’s After-schools.

Second Teacher

Adrian Geary

Adrian Geary is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and art educator whose lifelong love of drawing, observation, and creative expression informs everything he does. With a strong foundation in traditional media — including pencil, pen, clay, bronze casting, and oil painting — Adrian explores imagination through craft, precision, and play. Alongside this, he brings a background in digital design, sound, and colour theory, connecting traditional art-making with contemporary visual culture in an accessible and engaging way for young learners.

Currently training as a secondary school art teacher through the NCAD PME programme in Dublin, Adrian has developed a student-centred teaching style that focuses on building core skills such as line, balance, and understanding positive and negative space. His lessons are carefully guided, with clear demonstrations and step-by-step support, helping each pupil feel capable and included.

Adrian places a strong emphasis on creating a safe, positive studio environment where children can slow down, focus, and take pride in their work. Through consistent routines and encouragement, he supports pupils in developing not just artistic skill, but independence, problem-solving, and self-confidence.

Having previously led community art classes in Vancouver, Adrian brings a warm, approachable teaching style that helps children feel comfortable expressing themselves while learning strong creative foundations.

Third Teacher

Summer Lu

Summer Lu is a visual artist and experienced art educator with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver. After spending over eight years teaching and creating between Canada and China, Summer recently relocated to Dublin, where she continues to explore and share her passion for cross-cultural artistic tradition

She has taught a wide range of ages and skill levels in schools, art studios, and community programs. Her teaching experience includes after-school drawing classes in Vancouver elementary schools, leading in-person and online workshops with local art centres, and hosting creative events and classes at Luminous Studios and the Academy of Modern Art.

Summer’s teaching style is warm, encouraging, and highly adaptive. Her workshops are thoughtfully designed to support each student’s unique creative process, offering both structure and freedom. Whether guiding a group of children through a playful painting session or leading adults in focused technique-based classes, Summer creates an inclusive space where everyone feels supported to learn, experiment, and grow.
